Czuba, a resident of Plainfield, has been charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, hate crimes, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court in Joliet. The attack has caught the attention of authorities, with the Justice Department initiating a hate crime investigation into the events leading up to the incident. President Joe Biden strongly condemned the act, stating that it goes against the core values of the nation and has no place in America.

The FBI is also taking swift action to address the threats made in connection with the incident. Although the majority of threats have been deemed non-credible, the FBI is treating each one seriously. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a young life and stands in solidarity against hate crimes.
