Biden Campaign Joins Trump’s Truth Social, Welcoming Converts

Summary: President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign has launched an account on Truth Social, the social media platform created by Donald Trump. In a playful manner, the campaign tweeted, ‘Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!’ Biden’s campaign joins the platform in an attempt to engage with Trump and his supporters. The move comes as Trump leads the Republican primary despite being involved in legal troubles.

President Joe Biden’s 2024 campaign has made a surprising move by joining Truth Social, the social media platform founded by Donald Trump. Under the handle @BidenHQ, the campaign tweeted, ‘Well. Let’s see how this goes. Converts welcome!’ Biden’s team decided to join Truth Social as a way to engage with their political rival and potentially attract his supporters. The account initially followed only one other user, Trump himself.

Despite the controversies surrounding Trump, including being indicted in multiple cases and facing numerous criminal charges, he has managed to gain a strong lead in the Republican primary. This sets up the possibility of a rematch between Trump and Biden in the upcoming election.

The Biden campaign acknowledged their presence on Truth Social, previously known as Twitter, stating, ‘We just joined Truth Social, mostly because we thought it would be very funny.’ They also encouraged their followers to join them on the platform for ‘truths and retruths or whatever they call them.’ A senior campaign aide mentioned that their participation on Truth Social could add some enjoyment to the platform.

This is not the first time that the Biden campaign has engaged in online trolling aimed at conservatives. In the past, they have coopted conservative messaging and online spaces to make their own political statements. For example, they turned a video clip of Republican U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene comparing Biden to past presidents into an online ad. Additionally, they posted a video on Truth Social after a Republican presidential debate, featuring Florida Governor Ron DeSantis criticizing Trump’s administration for contributing to federal deficits and rising inflation rates. The caption underneath the video read, ‘Couldn’t agree more.’
